Additional types of treatment and physiotherapy modalities can either complement Chiropractic treatment or can be used alone during therapy.
Types are listed below:
Mechanical or Manual Traction - This therapy produces separation (traction) of compressed spinal vertebral segments providing relief to impinged nerve roots and compressed spinal discs. This technique can be very effective for arm/hand or legs/feet numbness and tingling.
Ultrasound Therapy - Therapeutic Ultrasound is a method of stimulating tissue beneath the skin's surface using sound waves. It is a very high frequency massage that can penetrate up to 5" below the surface of your skin. Ultrasound can be used for treatment of selected medical conditions such as the relief of pain, muscle spasms and joint contractures. These conditions may be associated with adhesive capsulitis, bursitis with slight calcification, myositis, and soft tissue injuries.
Electric Stimulation - Electrotherapy is the use of electrical energy for pain relief, tissue healing by increasing blood flow to an injured area, swelling, and muscle spasm relaxation. There are many different types of electrical stimulation that make use of different frequencies and wavelengths. An extremely common type of electrical stimulation is TENS, which is used primarily for pain relief.
Exercise Therapy - Exercise therapy in the Chiropractic office primarily consists of range of motion therapy & stretching and can be either active or passive in nature. In some cases, exercise bands will be utilized and home exercise instruction is also commonly made available.
