First, the good news! If you have federal Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance, you are in luck! For federal government employees such as those who work for the VA medical system as well as United States postal workers, your insurance still pays for most care provided in this office. Your out of pocket costs will be very small.
Now for the bad news! For those with standard commercial Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Aetna, and Cigna insurance policies, they generally do not cover the full cost of care in this office. For example, most United Healthcare policies now only allow a maximum of $55 for the visit including your copay. For non-federal Blue Cross Blue Shield policies, the maximum is $60. Cigna and Aetna are similar. This office would literally go bankrupt if we averaged $55-$60/hour with office rent, utilities, liability and facility insurance, professional licensure expenditures including continuing education, as well as taxes.
The short answer is they saw an opportunity to cut costs by only covering the quck "pop and go" type of Chiropractic care, so now patients generally receive inferior care compared to what was received in the past when good quality care was covered.
Absolutely Not! This office will not provide substandard care by increasing volume. Patients suffer from this type of care and it will never be offered in this office. You have many options elsewhere for "pop and go" care for symptom treatment if that is what you are looking for.
No. Unfortunately these plans only cover the "pop and go" type of Chiropractic care that is not offered in this office. Reimbursement for these plans is very low and requires significant administrative costs as well.
